                       Patent Cooperation Treaty Update

   The Official Gazette notice for Patent Cooperation
Treaty (PCT) Information has been updated to include changes regarding
the European Patent Office's competency as an International Searching
Authority and an International Preliminary Examining Authority related
to certain fields of technology as published in the Official
Gazette at 1255 O.G. 878, on February 19, 2002. Additionally the
updated notice also reflects the change to the Chapter II handling fee
which came into effect on January 1, 2002 due to a change in the
exchange rate of the U.S. dollar with regard to the Swiss franc. This
fee change was initially announced in the Official Gazette
at 1253 O.G. 88 on December 25, 2001.
