The Consolidated Glossary of USPC Terms provides a comprehensive list of glossary terms and their definitions taken directly from the classification definitions in the United States Patent Classification (USPC) System. USPC glossary terms are created to provide specific, technology-related definitions that may be different from the standard dictionary definitions for these terms. These terms are specific to the class definitions from which they were taken; therefore, the same term may be defined differently in different classes.

The user will find that some terms do not contain a definition of the term but instead contain references to the class definitions from which the term was drawn. In these instances, users should consult the source classification definitions to try to determine the meaning of the terms.
