Join the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Lanham Act, the federal statute establishing modern U.S. trademark law. On Tuesday, July 27, the USPTO will present an exciting virtual program commemorating the Lanham Act and how it has benefited our country and the world. This free event is open for everyone, but you must register in advance.
The celebration will feature a screening of the Lanham Act documentary produced by the National Inventors Hall of Fame as well as a lineup of distinguished speakers, including:
- Gina Raimondo, U.S. Secretary of Commerce
- Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa
- Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware
- Rep. Ted Deutch of Florida
- Drew Hirshfeld, performing the functions and duties of the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO
- David Gooder, Commissioner for Trademarks
- Influential and iconic brand owners
Since President Harry S. Truman signed the Lanham Act into law on July 5, 1946, it has provided businesses and entrepreneurs with the legal machinery to protect their brands and help customers make informed choices.
