System status and availability

The USPTO will perform routine maintenance on PPUBs from 10:30- 11 p.m. ET on Friday, January 17.  

During this maintenance period, users may experience brief system slowness.

Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) and Trademark Center Maintenance

The USPTO will perform routine maintenance on TEAS and Trademark Center from 12:01-4 a.m. ET on Saturday, January 18.

The TEAS initial applications forms will be retired on January 18, 2025 as a new trademark application fee schedule is introduced. Please complete any initial applications in progress and note the following information:
 

January 17, 2025: This is the last day to file an initial application in TEAS, and the last day to apply under the current fee schedule.  

• TEAS: If you start an application in TEAS on or after January 1, you must submit it by January 17 at 11:59 p.m. ET. You can’t transfer your saved application (OBJ) files and in-progress electronic signature requests to Trademark Center.
• Trademark Center: You must complete all electronic signature requests and submit any draft applications by January 17 at 11:59 p.m. ET. All saved drafts will be removed from your “My drafts” tab after that. 

January 18, 2025: The new fees will be in effect. The TEAS initial application forms will be retired, and Trademark Center will be the only place to file a trademark application. These five initial application forms in Trademark Electronic Application System will be retired:

• TEAS Plus/TEAS Standard Application
•  Trademark/Servicemark Application, Supplemental Register  
• Certification Mark Application, Principal Register  
• Collective Membership Mark Application, Principal Register  
• Collective Trademark/Servicemark Application, Principal Register 
   

The USPTO will perform maintenance affecting several systems from 12:01-9 a.m. ET on Monday, January 20.

The following systems and systems that interface with these systems will be unavailable during the maintenance period:

• Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA)
• Office of Enrollment and Discipline Roster of Patent Attorneys/Agents (OEDCI)
• Patent Center and Sponsorship Tool
• Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (P-TACTS)
• Publication Site for Issued and Published Sequences (PSIPS)
• Financial Manager and Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront
• Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
• Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)
• Trademark Official Gazette (TMOG)
• Trademark Trial and Appeal Board VUE (TTABVUE)

The maintenance will also cause interruptions to payment processing for users of ESTTA, the Electronic Trademark Assignment Search (ETAS), the Order Entry Management System (OEMS), and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board End to End (PTAB-E2E).

P-TACTS Customers:

If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending AIA case and you cannot file electronically via the Patent Trial and Appeal Tracking System (P-TACTS), you may use an alternative filing method. If your deadline is today and the document cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternative method of filing. The USPTO will perform routine maintenance on the BDSS from 10 a.m. ET until 3 p.m. ET on Wednesday, January 22.

During the maintenance period, the entire BDSS system will be unavailable.
