Trademark protection for your winery brand

Join experts from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) this Friday, September 23, 2022, for a discussion on how a registered trademark can help your winery protect its unique and distinctive brand. This discussion will take place at the at the Grand Valley State University - Traverse City (GVSU TC) Regional Center at Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) University Center in Traverse City, Michigan.

During this free program, attendees will hear from:

  • Sam Augusta, Business Consultant from the Michigan Small Business Development Center, will discuss the resources available to small businesses.
  • Esmaeil Nasrollahiazar, Viticulture Extension Educator, Michigan State University Extension, will discuss modeling the Michigan grapevine cold hardiness project.
  • Damian Porcari, Regional Director, USPTO Midwest Regional Office, will discuss the patent and trademark resources available to area inventors and businesses, and how to schedule one-on-one meetings for a more in-depth discussion.
  • Stephen Yanchuk, Patent Examiner, USPTO Eastern Regional Outreach Office, will present an overview of plant genealogy, crosses, mutations, and hybrids.
  • Jason Lott, Managing Attorney for Trademarks Customer Outreach, USPTO Trademark Educational Outreach, will discuss how a registered trademark can help your winery protect its unique and distinctive brand.
