The Madrid Protocol is an international treaty that businesses and individuals can use to protect their trademarks simultaneously in multiple countries using a single application. It allows applicants to file with a single office, using one currency, and in a single language. Modifications and maintaining registrations are handled through a single office, and you only need to use foreign attorneys or agents if your application is refused—not at the time of filing.
In this webinar, experts from the USPTO Trademark Examination Policy Office will:
- Provide an overview of filing an international application using the Madrid system
- Discuss common issues that arise during the process
- Answer any questions you have about the subject matter
- Cover additional resources available from the USPTO and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
This webinar is accessible to individuals with disabilities. Closed captioning will be provided. Other reasonable accommodations may be available upon request. The USPTO is applying for CLE credit in Virginia for this course.
