USPTO Hour: Trademark "Change Address or Representation" form authorization updates

Circular logo with clock face, with "USPTO Hour" text around the edge.

Join us on Wednesday, July 23, from noon to 1 p.m. ET for our next USPTO Hour, hosted by the Office of the Commissioner for Trademarks.

To further our fight against fraudulent trademark filings, we're continually improving the security of our filing system. As part of that effort, we added an authorization step to various forms, including the Change Address or Representation (CAR) form. You provided feedback on the additional step, and we're taking action based on your suggestions.

In this session, we'll highlight the July 17 updates to the authorization process. The webinar will include a:

  • Brief history of trademark application hijacking
  • Live demonstration of the updated authorization process
  • Summary of how user roles will work in future trademark filings

We'll also follow up on questions raised during previous USPTO Hour events about trademark pendency and suspicious filings.

The discussion will feature agency experts, including:

  • Jason Lott, Managing Attorney, Trademarks Customer Outreach
  • Matt Schwab, Senior Legal Administrator for Trademarks Technology and Systems
