The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is joining with the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University (ASU) to present in-person Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings and a livestreamed Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) proceeding on Thursday, February 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. MT, at ASU in Phoenix. Practitioners and students can observe judges and counsel in action during the PTAB and TTAB proceedings.
Check-ins for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the opening remarks will begin at 9:30 a.m. During the event, practitioners and students will be privy to a fireside chat with Under Secretary of Commerce and USPTO Director Kathi Vidal, who will answer questions, discuss tips for advocacy before the administrative tribunals, and provide thoughts on leading the USPTO. Additionally, the PTAB and TTAB judges will provide educational sessions where they will share information about the structure and format of PTAB trial and appeal proceedings as well as TTAB opposition proceedings. Please see the agenda for the full day's event.
Patent and trademark attorneys who appear before the PTAB and/or TTAB, and anyone interested in learning about practicing before these administrative tribunals, are welcome to attend.
