USPTO leads the way with comprehensive reporting of cloud activity for security analysis

In an effort to strengthen cybersecurity, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is leading the way with comprehensive reporting to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Cloud Log Aggregation Warehouse (CLAW), which collects and analyzes agency cloud security data.

To comply with CISA standards for cloud activity reporting and event logging, all USPTO cloud providers are successfully reporting to CISA’s CLAW. The USPTO is the first federal agency to have this comprehensive reporting capability in place.

With all three cloud environments accurately reporting cloud activity to CLAW, the USPTO strengthens cybersecurity readiness and incident response. CISA provides guidance and oversight for federal agencies operating in the digital world. In their efforts to support the evolving cloud-based traffic, CISA released the Trusted Internet Connections 3.0 Core Guidance Documents that included the development of CLAW. USPTO cloud security data is uploaded to CLAW for further security analysis to provide better cloud security awareness.
