Dr. Jason Cross, Chief Strategy Officer, Rymedi
Dr. Jason Cross, PhD, JD, is co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer for Rymedi, a blockchain-based health workflow and data automation platform for testing, treating and monitoring patients. Dr. Cross' area of expertise is business model and intellectual property (IP) innovation focused on expanding access to high quality healthcare. He was a professor at Duke University and Founding Director of the Innovation & Technology Policy Lab where he spearheaded innovative IP partnerships between countries and pharmaceutical and medical device companies. Dr. Cross is also Chair of the IP Subgroup of the IEEE Blockchain in Healthcare and Life Sciences Standards Working Group, and an advisor to several companies leveraging blockchain in health and life sciences.
Doug Kim, IP Attorney, Kim & Lahey Law Firm, LLC
Doug Kim is the Founder of the Kim, Lahey & Killough Law Firm, a boutique business law firm based in Greenville, South Carolina, with offices in Charleston, South Carolina, and Western North Carolina. Through the creation of intellectual property (IP) rights and their enforcement, Doug seeks to develop legal strategies that fit clients’ business goals and increase the company’s worth. Doug also assists clients with drafting, negotiating, and reviewing license, assignment, independent contractor, and employment agreements as they pertain to IP and ownership. Doug’s business background, legal education, and experience make him well suited to understand the interaction between the legal services available to a client, a company’s available resources, and the client’s business goals. Doug has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for the past seven years. He was named Best Lawyers Patent Lawyer of The Year, Greenville (2019) and Trademark Lawyer of The Year, Greenville (2022). He also chairs the IP Committee for the South Carolina Bar Association.
