Patent practitioners: Attend a session on the 2019 Revised Patent Subject Matter Eligibility Guidance

Don’t miss this opportunity to join the Silicon Valley USPTO for a discussion and question and answer session on recently-issued guidance implementing changes to USPTO procedures for determining subject matter eligibility under 35 U.S.C. § 101 for claims in patent applications. This event is free and open to the public. Space is limited. Register early.

One hour California MCLE credit will be offered.

This session will help anyone prosecuting patent applications or with an interest in statutory compliance with 35 U.S.C. § 101. A supervisory patent examiner will discuss the revised guidance. Specifically, the revised guidance creates a new inquiry in Step 2A, in which a claim is not “directed to” a recited judicial exception if the claim integrates the judicial exception into a practical application. We will go over examples illustrating how the revised guidance will be used in examining claims. The question and answer session will follow the presentation.
