The Office of Education at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) hosts a monthly virtual professional development workshop for K-12 educators interested in integrating intellectual property (IP), innovation, and invention activities into their STEM/STEAM curriculum. Educators will learn about different types of IP, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Sessions will be held on the last Tuesday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m. ET.
Our April workshop will take place on World Intellectual Property (IP) Day, which focuses this year on how young innovators are stepping up to solve innovation challenges across the globe.
We are happy to welcome Ma’Laan Moses and Malachi Harris as our guest speakers. Ma’Laan and Malachi are high school seniors in Detroit, Michigan, who are participating in a work-based learning program through the USPTO’s youth job partner Urban Alliance. The USPTO’s partnership with Urban Alliance provides an opportunity for students to gain professional work experience, while earning a living wage. Join us to hear Ma’Laan and Malachi speak about their experiences and share their thoughts on how educators can make invention, innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity valuable and engaging to students.
