The Office of Education at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) hosts a monthly virtual professional development workshop for K-12 educators interested in integrating intellectual property (IP), innovation, and invention activities into their STEM/STEAM curriculum. Educators will learn about different types of IP including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Sessions will be held on the last Tuesday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m. ET.
This month’s program will feature Yolanda Payne, an alumnus of the USPTO National Summer Teacher Institute (NSTI). Payne will share her experiences as an educator and NSTI participant and will deliver strategies for engaging students and educators in computer science. The Office of Education at the USPTO will provide an overview of the NSTI program and how teachers can apply for this professional development experience designed for K-12 educators.
