Join the United States Patent and Trademark Office's (USPTO) Office of Education on April 25, 2023, 6-7:30 p.m. ET, to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day: The value of her IP. Officially celebrated every year on April 26, World IP Day is an opportunity to recognize the role that Intellectual Property plays in inspiring innovation, encouraging creativity, and driving progress. This year the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO) theme is, “Women and IP: Accelerating innovation and creativity” and celebrates female inventors, creators, and entrepreneurs.
This month's webinar features high school seniors from Detroit, Michigan, Alexandria, Virginia and Arlington, Virginia, who are participating in the USPTO’s Intellectual Property Skills Work-Based Learning (IP-Skills WBL) program. Through a contract with Urban Alliance, the program provides an opportunity for students to gain professional work experience while earning a living wage. Participants are introduced to federal service, develop employability skills, receive valuable exposure to innovation and guidance from USPTO mentors. Join us to hear about their experiences and learn their thoughts on how educators can make IP, invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship engaging for students.
The USPTO hosts monthly professional development webinars for K-12 educators interested in integrating intellectual property (IP), innovation, and invention activities into their STEM/STEAM curriculum. Whether you’re a school administrator, teacher, student, parent, or caregiver, you are welcome to join us every month to hear from educators and learn about different types of IP, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. These sessions can help inspire a classroom of problem solvers and shape career choices. Sessions are held by webinar on the last Tuesday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m. ET.
