Additive manufacturing or 3D printing is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital model. 3D printing is achieved using additive processes, where an object is created by laying down successive layers of material by a materials printer using digital technology. Additive manufacturing is used in the fields of jewelry, footwear, architecture, engineering and construction, automotive, aerospace, dental and medical industries, education, geographic information systems, civil engineering, and many others.
The USPTO has been hosting this partnership meeting for several years. This year, we are scheduled to have speakers from Lawrence Livermore Laboratories, HRL, NextManufacturing Center, Kansas State University and CIMP-3D. Other interested organizations with additive manufacturing innovations or program(s) are welcome to join as presenters. Contact information is below.
The meeting will serve as a forum for sharing ideas, experiences, and insights between individual users and the USPTO. We value our customers and the feedback provided from individual participants is important in our efforts to continuously improve the quality of our products and services. Your willing participation in this informal process is helpful in providing us with new insights and perspectives.
Individual opinions are sought from varying participants, and the meetings are informal in nature. These partnership groups are formed with full recognition of the USPTO’s responsibility under the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA), and are not established as FACA compliant committees.
