Upcoming planned events
SMS and Voice Calls for Account Authentication
All USPTO customers will need to a switch to a more secure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) method for their USPTO.gov accounts when accessing our systems on Thursday, May 1. Text messages (SMS) and voice calls will no longer be offered. If you currently use SMS or voice calls to verify your account, you must switch to email verification or to another MFA method by Wednesday, April 30. See the multifactor authentication options webpage for more information. You must download, install, and configure your chosen method on your device.
Bulk Data Storage System (BDSS) Retirement
The USPTO is planning to retire BDSS on Friday April 11, 2025. To access similar data, users may use the Bulk Data Directory feature in new Open Data Portal (ODP).
Support resources are available to help you, including information on getting started and transitioning Application Program Interfaces (APIs), and more.
Bulk Data Storage System (BDSS) will be retiring in April
The USPTO will be retiring BDSS in April. After April 11, 2025, the Patent and Trademark data in Bulk Data Storage System (BDSS) will no longer be available. To access similar data, users may use the Bulk Data Directory feature in new Open Data Portal (ODP). Support resources are available to help you, including information on getting started and transitioning Application Program Interfaces (APIs), and more.

System Maintenance
The USPTO will perform routine maintenance affecting multiple systems from midnight-2 a.m. ET on Thursday, April 24.
During the maintenance period, user access to the following applications may be interrupted:

- Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC)
- Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC-CAT)
- Fee Processing (Fees)
- MyUSPTO
- Office of Enrollment and Discipline - Customer Interface (OEDCI)

- Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (PTACTS)
- Trademark Centers
- Trademark e0G (TM- eOG)
- Trademark ID Manual (TM-IDM)
- Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
- Trademark Electronic Application System International- (TEASi)
- Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA)
Patent Customers: During this maintenance period, Patent Center will be unavailable. Please refer to our Filing Documents during an Outage page for other alternative filing method.
PTAB/P-TACTS Customers: If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending America Invents Act (AIA) case and you cannot file electronically via Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (P-TACTS), you may use an alternate filing method. Please visit the P-TACTS FAQ page: https://www.uspto.gov/sites/default/files/documents/p-tacts_faqs_20221007.pdf
