This year marks the 75th anniversary of the passage of the Lanham Act, the primary federal trademark law of the United States. On June 17-18, join the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the State Bar of Texas’ Intellectual Property Law Section in commemorating the passage of this foundational act.
Register today to learn about Texas Congressman Fritz Lanham, the lead Congressional sponsor of the legislation, the history of the Lanham Act, and the important role the Lanham Act plays in protecting American businesses and American consumers.
The 75th Anniversary commemoration will feature a “State of the Office” interview with Drew Hirshfeld, performing the functions and duties of the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO, and Hope Shimabuku, Director of the USPTO Texas Regional Office.
Next, attendees will join panelists for a thought-provoking discussion about strategies for success in the world of intellectual property law. Molly Buck Richard will moderate. The panel will include:
- Lisa Blatt, who argued the Bookings.com case before the United States Supreme Court
- Dorian Daley of Oracle
- Mary Boney Denison, former Commissioner for Trademarks
- Michelle Lee of Amazon, former USPTO Director
- Chief Judge Barbara Lynn of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas
